We understand that our queendom, the world’s first gynocratic and matriarchal country, raises countless questions. We will answer the most common ones.
- Why are all public offices in the Free Queendom of Lilith held by women?
The Free Queendom Of Lilith is a micronation entirely led by women, a gynecocracy. We understand that the current patriarchal system is incapable of responding to the challenges facing humanity today. That is why we are convinced that our country will be the first in a series of nations to follow our example. The 21st century will be the century of us, women. Peacefully, calmly, and serenely, more and more women will assume positions of power and influence. True revolutions require time, patience, and tenacity. We believe that humanity cannot have a future unless we women seize power, all the power.
2. Do you think a society entirely led by women will be better than the current patriarchal society?
We are sure of it. Some people think that a matriarchy would be a sort of «patriarchy run by women,» but that is not the case. Matriarchy and gynecocracy have nothing to do with patriarchy, nor do they share its competitive values in the slightest.
As an example, I will cite our close relatives (evolutionarily speaking) the bonobos and chimpanzees. These two primate species and we, the human species, share a common ancestor. Well, a million years ago, bonobos and chimpanzees were a single species, but an earthquake changed the course of the Congo River and split that species’ population in two. Half of the specimens became trapped in a territory that was not very fertile and had scarce resources, while the other half became trapped in a highly fertile area with abundant food resources.
Over time, these two separated populations evolved into two distinct species with vastly different social systems: in the resource-poor area, they evolved into chimpanzees: a patriarchal, territorial, and highly aggressive, cruel and violent species. Whereas in the area with abundant resources, they evolved into bonobos, which are matriarchal, peaceful, and cooperative with one another.
As you might imagine, the social organization of chimpanzees and bonobos is completely different. The number of violent aggressive acts among bonobos is far lower than that recorded among chimpanzees, and most of these incidents are instigated by the young. Chimpanzees resolve their differences through violence and aggression, whereas bonobos do so with caresses and affection. Among chimpanzees, the alpha male is the strongest and most violent male, while among bonobos, the alpha female is the one who makes love best, the best lover.
Returning to the human species, we believe we are perfectly capable of governing and leading society. Women, are more capable than men to do it. We could debate whether or not that is true, but what is indisputable is that, after so many millennia of patriarchy, it is only fair that we women now take power. It is time for matriarchy and gynecocracy.
3.Why do you think a gynocratic country is necessary?
We believe that, after decades of feminist struggle, the social improvements achieved for women are clearly insufficient. In today’s world, women continue to face discrimination in the workplace, in positions of power and influence, and in access to education. We, women, continue to earn lower wages and perform work that is under-skilled, poorly paid, undervalued, and so on. The current patriarchal system is incapable of protecting us from gender-based violence in the home.
The time has come for gynocracy, so that new generations of girls can see and witness that we women are also powerful—and that we, too, can create, invent, conduct research, and lead.
4. Do you believe in gender equality?
No, men and women are not the same; that is obvious. Women can give birth, men cannot; women can breastfeed, men cannot; women menstruate, men do not, etc. If we were the same, there wouldn’t be separate restrooms for men and women; there would be a single restroom for both sexes. There wouldn’t be separate prisons for men and women; there would be a single prison for both sexes. There wouldn’t be a men’s soccer league and a women’s league; there would be a single league with mixed teams (men and women playing together). But this isn’t the case, because we are not the same. And since we are not equal, there can never be justice between us, men and women.
5. Do you think women are superior to men?
Being superior or inferior is highly relative and depends on many factors, as it hinges on the qualities being evaluated. For instance, if we evaluate speed of movement, a hare is superior to a tortoise. However, if we evaluate lifespan or life expectancy, a tortoise is superior.
If we evaluate physical strength, men are generally superior to women, as male testosterone gives them an advantage. But if we evaluate the endurance and efficiency of our bodies, women are superior to men. It is a fact that male mortality is higher than female mortality across all age groups. For example, according to a scientific study published in *Scientific Reports*, the first crewed flight to Mars should consist solely of women because the female body is more efficient than the male body; it can survive longer while consuming fewer resources.
Therefore, it is not a matter of determining which gender is superior, but rather of understanding and accepting that the time for gynocracy, and for us women to take power, has arrived.
6. What is the legal status of men in The Free Queendom Of Lilith?
Men may be citizens, contribute ideas, and vote (active suffrage), but they cannot exercise «passive suffrage», that is, they cannot run for public office.
7. Should boys and girls be educated separately?
Imagine you are a 12-year-old girl; at school, you were taught that a man discovered penicillin, invented the lightbulb, developed vaccines, discovered this continent, won this war, invented the LASER, landed on the Moon, and so on. Now, suppose there is a mixed-gender class where two candidates are running for class representative: a boy and a girl. Who do you think that girl, having learned that men have accomplished everything interesting in history while women barely appear, will vote for in secret? It stands to reason that many girls in the class will vote for the boy. Consequently, the boy will become the representative and learn how to manage power, authority, and influence over the class. Thus, history never changes, and the patriarchy perpetuates itself decade after decade. No, we do not believe it is a good idea to mix girls and boys in the same classroom, because it works against the girls and in favor of the boys. In a class made up entirely of girls, the elected class representative will inevitably be a girl; this way, the whole class will see that girls and women, too, can exercise authority and handle power as a matter of course.
8. Why The Free Queendom of Lilith is a queendom and not a republic?
It is a debate we had before the country was founded. We believe in the debate of ideas and the exchange of differing opinions. Furthermore, we understand that, in the twenty-first century, the monarchy is viewed by many as an anachronistic institution. However, we believe that, as such a young and small project, we run the risk of being threatened by social or political forces seeking to exploit our country for their own gain, or to jeopardize our national or territorial integrity or that of our neighbors, Andorra and Spain, with whom we share borders. A queen who holds the final say on important state matters could be crucial in such hypothetical scenarios.
