Why do we need a country ruled by us, women? A lot of reasons all along history teach us that is the best solution.
Miss María Isabel Luisa de Borbón y Borbón (Madrid 1830)

The only queen regnant in the history of unified Spain had a singular life. She came to the throne a month before her third birthday, but her succession was disputed by her uncle, Infante Carlos (founder of the Carlist movement), whose refusal to recognize a female sovereign led to the Carlist Wars. At the age of 13, she was declared of legal age and swore an oath to the Constitution in order to ascend the throne as Queen of Spain. When we was 16, the government compelled her to marry her cousin, Francisco de Asís, Duke of Cadiz.
It was a marriage doomed from the start, as Francisco was openly homosexual. But Isabel, far from shutting herself away at home to lead a chaste life, secretly enjoyed the company of countless lovers, among whom were José María Ruiz de Arana, the General Francisco Serrano, Enrique Puigmoltó Mayans, Carlos Marfori y Calleja, Miguel Tenorio de Castilla, Francisco Valdemosa, Tirso de Obregón, Emilio Arrieta…
Isabel had twelve pregnancies, none of them by her husband, but only five of those pregnancies reached adulthood. Among them was the future King of Spain, Alfonso XII de Borbón.
Our protagonist suffered the consequences of the sexist, patriarchal society of the time; her accession to the throne triggered three civil wars (the Carlist Wars) simply because she was a woman. In a matriarchal society, those wars would not have occurred, and she would not have been forced into marriage. For this reason, and many others, we need a matriarchal political system.
